Vaginal dryness – What is It?

Vaginal dryness is a condition in which the vaginal walls dry out due to a decrease in the secretions that keep the vagina moist. It is common in menopausal women and women who experience pain during intercourse.

Vaginal dryness causes the secretions to decrease or almost disappear, making it impossible to block external viruses, bacteria, and pollutants entering through the vagina. Ultimately, the body’s protective function declines, and symptoms such as vulvar pain, vaginitis, pain during intercourse, and redness and bleeding of the vaginal mucosa occur.

Symptoms of Vaginal Dryness

  • Increased foul-smelling and yellowish discharge
  • Itchy and burning sensation in the vulva
  • Incontinence occurs even with light movement
  • Pain during intercourse

Why You Shouldn’t Ignore Vaginal Dryness

If vaginal dryness is not treated early enough, it can often lead to vaginitis because the vaginal environment becomes vulnerable to various infections. Therefore, it is important to receive appropriate treatment before it leads to chronic disease or causes other complications.
