Balloon angioplasty
By expanding the narrowed spinal canal with a balloon, blood circulation is improved.
Procedure Process Explanation
What is balloon angioplasty?
When blood vessels become narrow, blood flow is not smooth, and the heart becomes deprived of oxygen, which can lead to cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction. Balloon angioplasty expands blood vessels to improve blood flow.
Balloon angioplasty is a non-surgical treatment method that is more advanced than conventional neurolysis in that it widens the narrowed spinal canal (intervertebral foramen) due to degenerative changes in the spine by inserting a catheter with a balloon into the spine.
It is particularly effective for intractable spinal stenosis where narrowing and pain do not go away despite spinal surgery.

Balloon angioplasty procedure
Like neurolysis, the treatment time is short, about 20 to 30 minutes, and the procedure is performed under local anesthesia while talking to the patient. Repeated procedures help improve symptoms, but due to the steroids used, it is recommended not to perform more than 3 to 4 times a year if possible.

STEP 1
Inserting a balloon-filled catheter into the narrowed spinal canal

STEP 2
Inflating a balloon to expand the space in the neural tube

STEP 3
Injecting special drugs to remove inflammation into the neural tube
Balloon angioplasty procedure information
Treatment target
- If symptoms persist despite conservative treatment for more than 6 weeks
- If recurrence occurs after two or more nerve block injections
- Effective for moderate to severe stenosis, especially soft stenosis
Therapeutic effect
- It is more effective in removing adhesions than conventional neurolysis.
- Anti-inflammatory medications are injected into the expanded space to relieve pain.
- Improves blood circulation and reduces pressure around the nerves.
Treatment method
- It uses a thin catheter fitted with a special balloon.
- The stricture is accessed by inserting a catheter through the tailbone.
- Repeated expansion and relaxation of the balloon widens the narrowed intervertebral space.
caution
- To prevent nerve damage, balloon inflation is performed within 5 seconds.
- Excessive exercise after the procedure may put a strain on your back.
- It may be considered for patients with moderate to severe spinal stenosis.

X-ray imaging device C-Arm
C-Arm is a mobile X-ray imaging device used in operating rooms and emergency rooms for accurate diagnosis. It is a surgical imaging diagnostic device that provides various information in real time, such as the condition of the skeleton and nerves, the presence or absence of lesions, size, and location, by transmitting X-rays through the surgical area.
Using high-definition digital imaging medical device C-Arm, we lead to accurate diagnosis and quick treatment.
